Our thoughts go out to Joe Jnr and his family. 07/01/07 Well happy xmas happy new year and here she is! The new addition. Rebecca Elizabeth Wraith is a little cutey and is taking up a lot of my time. I don't mind one little bit. Great times and certainly life changing. I'm working on a few things at the moment. The boxing shows are going well with our next show in March. Check the EBF page for all the news on that. Players Inc magazine is still going strong and we have just signed cartoon legend Roy Race on which is a huge coup for us! My Performing Arts degree is going really well. I'm working with a good group and am still picking up the odd bit of acting work to. I'm recording two radio plays this week for Radio Newcastle which i'll stick up on the site when i get them. I'm playing a role in a new gangster flick titled 'Gangster Bitch' and there are other things in the pipeline. I'm still getting down south every now and then. I popped down last Wednesday to see Joe Pyle Jnr to celebrate his 40th. A great night was had by all and it was great to catch up with Joe Snr and Jnr, aswell as Dave Courtney, Mike Biggs,Howard Marks and many more faces from my past. Good times. I'll stick up the photos when i can. Added a bit to the acting, writing and boxing page today. 30/10/05 The Philistines Hit Toon! Glen Matlock returned to the North East to play a charity gig for the Bubble Foundation based at Newcastle General Hospital on October 30th 2005 and he brought the house down with his new band ‘The Philistines’. With a sell out crowd of 250 people at ‘Sutherlands’ in Windy Nook Gateshead and a great set by warm up band RAYNE the stage was set for the former Sex Pistol to do what he does best. After a rousing introduction by event organiser Steve Wraith, Glen and the boys took the stage and opened up with Hot Water. The crowd lapped it up. Many of those in attendance were not sure what to expect but they were not disappointed. With a few Pistol classics thrown in for good measure the Geordie public pogoed with passion at the front of the stage and Glen and the band gave it there all. After signing every autograph and posing for every picture they had a well deserved drink before heading back down to the smoke. A great night for a good cause and a rare chance for the Geordies to see one of the finest musicians and a great up and coming band in action. Thanks for the memories lads. Set List: Hot Water
20/10/05 Site update: Two video clips added to actor page, footage of Steve recording Goal the movie and the part he played in 55 Degrees North. 19/10/05 Hi folks. After stepping onto the football pitch on Sunday I was reminded by a local referee Tom Garraway that I had not updated the website for a while. I apologised to him and said that I’d get on the case straight away, so here we go! I’ve been up to all sorts since the last news update. I’m still working hard on the doors, although I feel a change in jobs will be happening sooner rather than later for me. In this job you have to keep your options open and look after number one and I think the time is right to do just that. It’s been all quiet on the acting front. I have however gone back to college to gain some qualifications that I should have gained when I was 17. I’m enjoying it. It’s a throw back to my younger days with my old mentor Nick Whitfield at the People’s Theatre. ‘Wire in the Blood’ will be filming up here over the next few months so I’m hoping to get some work from that in the future. I have been stowed off with editing my latest magazine. I’m now the Editor of a North East Football Magazine entitled ‘Players Inc.’ You can see what this is all about at www.playersinc.org.uk. Sales have gone well and we are hoping to increase the magazines circulation over the next few months. Unfortunately I have not got much further with my next book, but it will reach you all one day, I can promise you that. Dawn and I had a wonderful time in 12/10/05 Click the picture for details of the Joey Pyle Boxing event 08/10/05 Never Mind The Bubble Charity Event.....Sunday October 30th 2005 Please forward this email on to your friends and colleagues. 05/06/05 Well where do I start? With an apology I suppose for the lack of updates on the site since February. But lack of updates means that I have been busy so maybe I’m not so sorry after all. It’s certainly been an eventful year so far. I celebrated my 33rd birthday in February with a trip on the curry train to Hexham with Dawn and had my first drink for 6 weeks. I’m in the throws of a new fitness regime and have shed 2 stones this year in 6 months. I’ve upped the cardio and knocked the weights down a little and am following a fairly strict diet. So far so good. My targets to rediscover my six pack, and I reckon I’m halfway there! I met up with Eric Mason at Joe Pyle Juniors last show and we had an entertaining evening. I travelled down with Paul Lytton and Chris Sansom and we met up with Rick a reporter from Dawn and I popped to On the charity front I organised the annual ‘Felling Ashes’ at Felling Cricket Club for the Bubble Appeal and Billy Hardys charity The Grace House Appeal. I invited the usual array of North East sport stars to compete against my team, Felling F.C., The Duke Of Cumberland and of course the Felling Cricket Team in a round robin cricket event. The weather was glorious and although Paul Gascoigne failed to attend this year we had some great performances from John Carver (Newcastle United), Steve Bowey (Queen Of The South), Stuart Elliot (Newcastle United). Big thanks to Billy Hardy, John Davison, Chris Thomas, Joe Allon, and the Dukes answer to Elvis! We raised over £560 on the day for the two charities. Fantastic effort and thanks to everyone who attended again this year. Special thanks to top band CARMA who were the night time attraction at the Duke Of Cumberland and who are currently recording there first album. Can’t wait to hear it lads. And if you are covering the Jam classic ‘A Town Called Malice’ give me a bell I thought I did quite well on that number! Last Saturday Dawn and I travelled to Buxton to meet up with Dave Courtney to celebrate the wedding of Kevin Courtney and his beautiful fiancé Faith. They chose a beautiful setting in a park on a bandstand to exchange vows and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as they were declared husband and wife. We managed to hang around for the speeches before the long journey home and Dave brought the house down with his opening gambit to the blushing bride, ‘If you were my daughter I’d still be bathing you!’ Priceless! Dawn and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Faith and Kevin for inviting us to there special day and we hope you have a very long and happy life together. Whilst I’m on the subject of weddings, best of luck and sorry we can’t be there to ‘Mad Pete’ and his fiancé. We can’t make your wedding mate but will be with you in spirit. I failed once again to make ‘Big Brother’ this year. I got down to the last 2000 out of 50,000 hopefuls which was not as good as my last attempt. I think I’m being to honest at my auditions . However my mate Anthony Hutton did get in and has survived the first week. Anthony was part of the ‘Stretch Limo Seventies Dancing Troupe’, who performed every week at ‘ Sea Nightclub’ and we get on very well. He’s keen to get into show business and last time I saw him asked me for my agents number which I duly gave him. Not sure if he rang her but I’m sure he will have people wanting to give him work after this kind of exposure. Good luck mate. See you on the outside! Oh and mention the book and DVD a few times! On the work front I’ve just completed 2 stints for the BBC. First up was a great role in cop show ‘55 Degrees North’ currently showing on BBC1 Sunday evenings at 8pm. I appear in the last two episodes 7 and 8 as part of the notorious (fictional) Dungarry crime family in Last and by no means least Gary Firby. My North East Unliscensed Champion Is currently serving two years in Holmehouse Prison in Well that’s filled you in on my life. Hope yours is going well and that your all fit and well. See you all soon. Love ya! 06/02/05 Yes back again. Just had the boffins head battered working on the new introduction page. Hope you like it, cheers Steve. Not much else added to this site today other than a link to the bubble charity website and a few others (www.bubblefoundation.org.uk). On a personal front me and dawn are fine. Both working hard. I'm meeting up with Stu Wheatman this week to discuss our two new book projects, meeting Chris to finally sort out Eric Masons dvd, and working on a couple of charity events. As always you will be first to know of any future events. Check out www.playersinc.org.uk as we have updated that to. See ya. 01/02/05 Hello folks. Steve's just nipped off after another update and asked me to fill you in with what we've done. We've just added a boat load of pictures to the Geordie Connection photo's page and I know a few of the regulars on here are on a few so it's worth while taking a look. There's also some amusing photo's of Steve on the Actor page! Here's a few letters from the Bubble Appeal thanking Steve and the rest of you lot for helping raise money to help the kids. Well done people! 16/01/05 Well I've just got to the boffins after another woeful defeat for my sunday football team so Ihaven't much to say. Still the boffins Mrs has made me a good cup of coffee so things are looking up. A few things added to the site today. The front page has been changed after an overwhelming response to our mystery caller competition. I've decided to declare you all winners and will take you all out for fish and chips as i see you throughout 2005. Just remind me when i see you! We still want to hit the £500 target so please keep ringing the line, We will keep changing the content and will pay the cheque to the DEC as soon as we reach our target! I've added an email from the hotel where Dawn and I stayed last year. Glad to say they are all ok but sadly the hotel is wrecked. How lucky were we! Check out the next news item down about a rare Ronnie Biggs album released just before xmas. Ciao for now.
