Well happy xmas happy new year and here she is! The new addition. Rebecca Elizabeth Wraith is a little cutey and is taking up a lot of my time. I don't mind one little bit. Great times and certainly life changing. I'm working on a few things at the moment. The boxing shows are going well with our next show in March. Check the EBF page for all the news on that. Players Inc magazine is still going strong and we have just signed cartoon legend Roy Race on which is a huge coup for us! My Performing Arts degree is going really well. I'm working with a good group and am still picking up the odd bit of acting work to. I'm recording two radio plays this week for Radio Newcastle which i'll stick up on the site when i get them. I'm playing a role in a new gangster flick titled 'Gangster Bitch' and there are other things in the pipeline. I'm still getting down south every now and then. I popped down last Wednesday to see Joe Pyle Jnr to celebrate his 40th. A great night was had by all and it was great to catch up with Joe Snr and Jnr, aswell as Dave Courtney, Mike Biggs,Howard Marks and many more faces from my past. Good times. I'll stick up the photos when i can. Added a bit to the acting, writing and boxing page today. No news on the new book yet but rest assured Stu and I will be re-releasing 'Geordie Connection' at some point. The DVD is doing well at home and in the USA. Thanks for all your support. See you all soon.

Goodbye to the best Gran in the world

01/10/06

Hi folks. Site updated today with a new link added to our European Boxing Federation page. Click on the link to find out more. Lot's going on at the moment. I'm changing jobs, have started my Degree in Performing Arts at last and am writing the new chapters to 'The Krays The Geordie Connection' second edition. The DVD and Video are now in profit i'm pleased to say and Liam Galvin at Gangster Videos has now launched it in the USA so i'm chuffed about that. Check out the American cover below and a little write up in the US press. I was Godfather at my good friends Chris and Claires son Shays christening last weekend . Dawn was Godmother and we had a great day. I was certainly a rose between two thorns however as Chris a devout Sunderland fan had ex-Sunderland players Eric Gates and Bobby Kerr as Godfathers to. Even 1973 cup final hero Jimmy Montgomery was there to, so i was well and truly outnumbered. We had a great day though. I just hope Shay can get over his traumatic experience from a fortnight ago when he was taken to the Stadium Of Light for the first time. As Godfather it's my job to make sure he's put on the right path. A Newcastle strip for xmas? It's on order. Till next time folks.

Some Pictures don't need words!!!!

Monday 20th March

I travelled down to Leeds on the rattler to meet up with my good mate Liam Galvin from Gangster Videos and to meet up with the UK agents who have brought former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson over to the UK on an after dinner speaking tour. I'm trying to arrange a Tyson talk in up North in Autumn and things are looking good. The whole night was perfect and we spent most of it in the company of Joe Egan, Mike's former sparring partner. Also present was Brian London. Frank Bruno was a late arrival and Liam and i managed to catch up with Tyson and Bruno in private for twenty minutes before the main event. It was good to catch up with my old mate Scott Welch to, who is part of Tyson's close protection team. The show itself blows you away. I guess many people feel priveleged to see Tyson at close hand, and spend a night in his company. A great night and certainly one to remember. Photos below show me with big Joe Egan and Scott Welch and of course me Bruno, Tyson and Liam.

February 19th 2006

Had another great night down in London. This time it was to attend a special life time achievement night for Joe Pyle Snr. There wasn't a spare seat in the house at Caesars in Streatham as everyone turned out to pay there respects. I caught up with a few old friends including Christian, Helen, Mad Pete, Welsh Bernie, Howard Marks, Dave C , Seymour, Fred and Jamie Foreman, The Lambrianous, Bev, Lou, Gary, Paul, Chris, and Danny. Nice to meet soul diva Joceyln Brown to! What a singer. Great night for a great cause.

The Philistines Hit Toon!

Glen Matlock returned to the North East to play a charity gig for the Bubble Foundation based at Newcastle General Hospital on October 30th 2005 and he brought the house down with his new band ‘The Philistines’. With a sell out crowd of 250 people at ‘Sutherlands’ in Windy Nook Gateshead and a great set by warm up band RAYNE the stage was set for the former Sex Pistol to do what he does best. After a rousing introduction by event organiser Steve Wraith, Glen and the boys took the stage and opened up with Hot Water. The crowd lapped it up. Many of those in attendance were not sure what to expect but they were not disappointed. With a few Pistol classics thrown in for good measure the Geordie public pogoed with passion at the front of the stage and Glen and the band gave it there all. After signing every autograph and posing for every picture they had a well deserved drink before heading back down to the smoke. A great night for a good cause and a rare chance for the Geordies to see one of the finest musicians and a great up and coming band in action. Thanks for the memories lads.

Set List:

Hot Water
Be Somebody
Whose Side Are You On?
God Save The Queen
Ok Kiddo
Idiot
Suck It And See
On Something
Stepping Stone
Piece Of The Action
What Do You Want From Me?
White Knuckle Ride
Pretty Vacant

Hi folks. After stepping onto the football pitch on Sunday I was reminded by a local referee Tom Garraway that I had not updated the website for a while. I apologised to him and said that I’d get on the case straight away, so here we go! I’ve been up to all sorts since the last news update. I’m still working hard on the doors, although I feel a change in jobs will be happening sooner rather than later for me. In this job you have to keep your options open and look after number one and I think the time is right to do just that. It’s been all quiet on the acting front. I have however gone back to college to gain some qualifications that I should have gained when I was 17. I’m enjoying it. It’s a throw back to my younger days with my old mentor Nick Whitfield at the People’s Theatre. ‘Wire in the Blood’ will be filming up here over the next few months so I’m hoping to get some work from that in the future. I have been stowed off with editing my latest magazine. I’m now the Editor of a North East Football Magazine entitled ‘Players Inc.’ You can see what this is all about at www.playersinc.org.uk. Sales have gone well and we are hoping to increase the magazines circulation over the next few months. Unfortunately I have not got much further with my next book, but it will reach you all one day, I can promise you that. Dawn and I had a wonderful time in America, earlier in the year. We managed to avoid the hurricaines in Orlando , Florida, and had 4 great days in the Big Apple. I’ve added New York to my list of ideal retirement countries. On the charity front I will be holding a fundraiser for the ‘Bubble Foundation’ on Sunday October 30th in Gateshead. You can find the details below on an earlier entry. Eric Mason will be in attendance as will top local band RAYNE who have agreed to step in for CARMA who have sadly agreed to go there separate ways. The highlight for the crowd will be the appearance of former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock and his new band ‘The Philistines.’ Tickets are £12 and available from me , so let me know as they are going fast! I’ll also be appearing with Eric in Manchester in November. We are taking part in two sell out shows and I’m really looking forward to them. Unfortunately the show in Belfast that Grant was organising for us has been put on hold. As for the site we have added a clip from my appearance in ’55 Degrees North’ to the Actors page. Many many thanks to Andrew Wales for once again converting the clips! We have also added a few stories from the local papers to the Articles page. The enter site page photo has been altered and the enter button corrected to as a few of you were having problems entering the site. Sorry! We’ve updated Erics page and added a few new photos and tweaked the intro page. Hope this keeps the referee off my back! Only joking mate. See you next time.

The night has been arranged by 'Signed Collectables' and charity event organiser Steve Wraith. Steve says " I have teamed up with signed collectables who have kindly donated some great stuff for the raffles and auction. They have donated aNewcastle United shirt signed by Michael Owen and Alan Shearer aswell as a signed poster of the two of them together. A rare signed photograph of boxer Mohammed Ali, and a wonderfully framed England shirt from 1966 signed by World Cup winners Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters. In Glen we have managed to lure a punk legend up to the North East to play a rare live gig, i'm sure it will be a great occasion.'

Just put the phone down on my mate Bob Rimmer, one of Ricky Hattons trainers congratulating him on becoming world champion. I went down to Manchester to watch Ricky train with Chris Sansom, Andy Gravenor and Matt Leech last November. We had a great day and captured his training on film....awesome...we knew then he would be world champion...well done mate. Congratulations to my mate Richy Horsely who has just released his book , look forward to getting my copy and reviewing it here.

Well where do I start? With an apology I suppose for the lack of updates on the site since February. But lack of updates means that I have been busy so maybe I’m not so sorry after all. It’s certainly been an eventful year so far. I celebrated my 33rd birthday in February with a trip on the curry train to Hexham with Dawn and had my first drink for 6 weeks. I’m in the throws of a new fitness regime and have shed 2 stones this year in 6 months. I’ve upped the cardio and knocked the weights down a little and am following a fairly strict diet. So far so good. My targets to rediscover my six pack, and I reckon I’m halfway there!

I met up with Eric Mason at Joe Pyle Juniors last show and we had an entertaining evening. I travelled down with Paul Lytton and Chris Sansom and we met up with Rick a reporter from London and Grant Nesbitt the Irish Connection and his friends. We had a great night and Rick got some good pictures and stories for his new book from the evening. Good luck with it mate. Eric was in fine form and Joe Pyle came up with the idea of raising a few quid for Eric from the auction. Needless to say it was a huge success. We then popped back to the Outlaws Clubhouse where the party continued until the early hours. Thanks to Phil and Sarah for another great evening.

Dawn and I popped to London a week later to meet up with my old mates from indie pop group ‘The Farm’. The lads hadn’t played together for ten years and were on at the ‘Carling Brixton Academy’ with ‘The Happy Mondays.’ Both bands were well received and were outstanding. We met up with Peter Hooten and the lads after the gig, and also chatted with Bez from the Mondays and my old mate Piers Hernu who was socialising in the ‘Vip’ bar. Big shout out to Glenn, Mono and Steve to….see you all at the next gig!

On the charity front I organised the annual ‘Felling Ashes’ at Felling Cricket Club for the Bubble Appeal and Billy Hardys charity The Grace House Appeal. I invited the usual array of North East sport stars to compete against my team, Felling F.C., The Duke Of Cumberland and of course the Felling Cricket Team in a round robin cricket event. The weather was glorious and although Paul Gascoigne failed to attend this year we had some great performances from John Carver (Newcastle United), Steve Bowey (Queen Of The South), Stuart Elliot (Newcastle United). Big thanks to Billy Hardy, John Davison, Chris Thomas, Joe Allon, and the Dukes answer to Elvis! We raised over £560 on the day for the two charities. Fantastic effort and thanks to everyone who attended again this year. Special thanks to top band CARMA who were the night time attraction at the Duke Of Cumberland and who are currently recording there first album. Can’t wait to hear it lads. And if you are covering the Jam classic ‘A Town Called Malice’ give me a bell I thought I did quite well on that number!

Last Saturday Dawn and I travelled to Buxton to meet up with Dave Courtney to celebrate the wedding of Kevin Courtney and his beautiful fiancé Faith. They chose a beautiful setting in a park on a bandstand to exchange vows and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as they were declared husband and wife. We managed to hang around for the speeches before the long journey home and Dave brought the house down with his opening gambit to the blushing bride, ‘If you were my daughter I’d still be bathing you!’ Priceless! Dawn and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Faith and Kevin for inviting us to there special day and we hope you have a very long and happy life together. Whilst I’m on the subject of weddings, best of luck and sorry we can’t be there to ‘Mad Pete’ and his fiancé. We can’t make your wedding mate but will be with you in spirit.

I failed once again to make ‘Big Brother’ this year. I got down to the last 2000 out of 50,000 hopefuls which was not as good as my last attempt. I think I’m being to honest at my auditions . However my mate Anthony Hutton did get in and has survived the first week. Anthony was part of the ‘Stretch Limo Seventies Dancing Troupe’, who performed every week at ‘ Sea Nightclub’ and we get on very well. He’s keen to get into show business and last time I saw him asked me for my agents number which I duly gave him. Not sure if he rang her but I’m sure he will have people wanting to give him work after this kind of exposure. Good luck mate. See you on the outside! Oh and mention the book and DVD a few times!

On the work front I’ve just completed 2 stints for the BBC. First up was a great role in cop show ‘55 Degrees North’ currently showing on BBC1 Sunday evenings at 8pm. I appear in the last two episodes 7 and 8 as part of the notorious (fictional) Dungarry crime family in Newcastle. I can’t give to much away but look out for me throwing my weight around with a few of the stars of the show. I really enjoyed it and would like to thank my co-stars Mike Elliot, Peter Watson, Darren Morfitt, Mick Hodgson and Don Gilet for a really enjoyable shoot. A huge thanks to the crew and Sue Tully (formerly Michelle Fowler in Eastenders) , it was a pleasure. I’ve also had an enjoyable 3 day stint as an extra on ‘Byker Grove’ with Jennifer, Jonathan, Graham and Eve. We have been playing the parts of a film crew and have had the privilege of working with Terry Molloy who starred as ‘Davros in Doctor Who’, and Nick Bailey who played ‘Anthony the doctor in Eastenders.’ Not to sure when this will be aired but I will keep you posted. In the meantime check out the new photos added to the acting page and of course the photos added to the photos page. I’ve added a few photos on the your photos page to as I’ve had quite a few sent to me over the last few months.

Last and by no means least Gary Firby. My North East Unliscensed Champion Is currently serving two years in Holmehouse Prison in Stockton. He has taken his punishment on the chin like a man, and like any good boxer he is down and not out. Gary will make a return to the ring and is training hard now day in day out and is determined to pick up where he left off in the ring. If you have a spare minute in your day please drop Gary a line just to make sure he is ok. I know he will appreciate it.

Well that’s filled you in on my life. Hope yours is going well and that your all fit and well. See you all soon. Love ya!

06/02/05

Yes back again. Just had the boffins head battered working on the new introduction page. Hope you like it, cheers Steve. Not much else added to this site today other than a link to the bubble charity website and a few others (www.bubblefoundation.org.uk). On a personal front me and dawn are fine. Both working hard. I'm meeting up with Stu Wheatman this week to discuss our two new book projects, meeting Chris to finally sort out Eric Masons dvd, and working on a couple of charity events. As always you will be first to know of any future events. Check out www.playersinc.org.uk as we have updated that to. See ya.

Hello folks. Steve's just nipped off after another update and asked me to fill you in with what we've done.

We've just added a boat load of pictures to the Geordie Connection photo's page and I know a few of the regulars on here are on a few so it's worth while taking a look. There's also some amusing photo's of Steve on the Actor page!

Here's a few letters from the Bubble Appeal thanking Steve and the rest of you lot for helping raise money to help the kids. Well done people!

Well I've just got to the boffins after another woeful defeat for my sunday football team so Ihaven't much to say. Still the boffins Mrs has made me a good cup of coffee so things are looking up. A few things added to the site today. The front page has been changed after an overwhelming response to our mystery caller competition. I've decided to declare you all winners and will take you all out for fish and chips as i see you throughout 2005. Just remind me when i see you! We still want to hit the £500 target so please keep ringing the line, We will keep changing the content and will pay the cheque to the DEC as soon as we reach our target! I've added an email from the hotel where Dawn and I stayed last year. Glad to say they are all ok but sadly the hotel is wrecked. How lucky were we! Check out the next news item down about a rare Ronnie Biggs album released just before xmas. Ciao for now.

Amari Coral Beach Resort, Phuket Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 13:56:15 +0700 Dear Friends, We wanted to update you with the full information as to what happened at the Amari Coral Beach Resort in Phuket on 26th December, 2004 as many of the details have now been confirmed. At the time, the Tsunami, caused by the earthquake in Indonesia, hit Patong Bay in Phuket, most of our guests were enjoying their breakfast in the Rim Talay Restaurant, which is at sea level. As the Tsunami crashed towards the center of Patong bay, people in the restaurant could see yachts out in the bay breaking their anchorage and being washed in with the wave onto the beach. This gave guests a few seconds before the wave hit the resort, to run up the steps on the hillside to the lobby. The lobby is on much higher ground and a safe place above the level that the water reached. These few seconds saved many lives, as when the resort caught the brunt of the wave, a large amount of damage was done to the area, which had been full of guests a short while before. In particularly, the Rim Talay Restaurant, took the full force of the water with furniture washed through the air-conditioned glass buffet room and through the solid wall behind it until it hit the back wall of the kitchen. The restaurant and the main kitchen behind have been completely devastated. In addition, the La Gritta Italian Restaurant was almost entirely washed away, the Jetty severely damaged and both swimming pools will need extensive repair. All of the resorts 197 rooms have sustained damage, with the lower floors and the newly renovated deluxe rooms most severely affected. The hotel engineering and laundry areas will also have to be completely replaced. It is with great sadness that we remember the two guests who lost their lives during this tragic event. However, we are grateful that all of the resort’s staff have been accounted for and are unharmed. We thank the many hundreds of people from all around the world who have emailed us with encouragement and concern for their well-being. As the realization of the enormity of the damage both in terms of human lives and property become apparent, your kind words will help to sustain them through this difficult time. Several have lost their families and many of them their family homes and businesses. For this reason, Amari Hotels and Resorts have established a special account to collect cash donations from anyone wishing to assist the people who were affected by the Tsunami. Funds received will be donated directly to people in the south, in full and without any administration costs or deductions. Funds collected will be distributed to those in need and who were affected by the Tsunami. This includes staff members of Amari Coral Beach Resort and their families, as well as families in need and orphans known to our management and staff in Phuket, Khao Lak and Phang Nga. You can be assured that every Baht donated will reach people in need directly and fast. As people are in urgent need of help now, we intend to disburse the donations very quickly. If you would like to make a donation to this fund then please do contact me on this address and we will send you the information on how to make a bank transfer. In addition, Amari Hotels and Resorts have made a donation of Baht 250,000 to the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under the royal patronage of H. M. the King, to assist other victims of the tsunami. Once again, we thank you for all your support through this difficult time. Warmest regards, Alex Constantine Director of Communications Amari Hotels and Resorts, Thailand http://www.amari.com

Long lost Ronnie Biggs album gets rave reviews! Dear Friends, Robber, fugitive, escape artist and now jazz artist! Mr Biggs may still be at Her Majesty's pleasure, but his greatest musical legacy has just been released. Mailbag Blues, the instrumental jazz-rock soundtrack to Ronnie Biggs' life, recorded in Rio in 1974, is being released in the UK today by whatmusic. A must for Ronnie fans and music aficionados alike, the album has received stunning reviews from the music critics (see below), and is available to buy online at www.whatmusic.com. Whatmusic are a specialist Jazz/Brazilian record label who heard about this album on the back streets of Brazil, while looking for undiscovered musical gems. We managed to find Bruce Henri, the musician behind it and together, after much searching, discovered the original tapes at the back of the old studio in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, where it was originally recorded. It turned out to be a fantastic album! Have a listen, we hope you like it too!

You can hear a replay of Bruce Henri's interview this morning on BBC Radio 4's "The Today Programme" at: www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain (07:42am) Best wishes, The whatmusic team.
